Margaret Monachelli, B.A., D.V.M.

Dr. Margaret Monachelli is experienced in all aspects of small animal medical, surgical and dental care. Dr. Margaret Monachelli holds a B.A. in Psychology from Franklin and Marshall College, She also completed her Post-Graduate Pre-Medical studies at Columbia University. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Cornell University where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She has published several articles in medical journals including Neurosurgery and the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow.Dr. Monachelli has over 25 years of experience as a veterinarian. She has practiced in the greater Nashua area for the past 19 years. Dr. Monachelli founded Brookline Animal Hospital in 2012, and is proud that Brookline Animal Hospital is here to serve the local community by providing exceptional veterinary care. Dr. Monachelli’s goal is to provide the best preventative care to keep your pet healthy through out his/her life. If your pet becomes sick or injured, you can feel secure that Dr Monachelli has the medical knowledge, skill, and experience to manage the most challenging cases.

As a family practice veterinarian, Dr. Monachelli understands the importance of the bond between pets and their “humans.” She believes that client communication and education is crucial to optimal patient care, and strives to give clients updated medical information and advanced techniques to ensure their pets enjoy the very best quality of life. Dr. Monachelli is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). She enjoys spending free time with her daughters Natalie and Nadine, and husband John. Other activities include hiking, skiing, gardening, boating, and taking care of her animals.

Mary Ellen Blake, B.S., V.M.D.

Dr. Mary Ellen Blake completed her veterinary training at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia. She holds a B.S. in Biology from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Dr. Blake specializes in small animal medicine, having practiced since 2005 in Southern New Hampshire following graduation from veterinary school. She first practiced under the mentorship of Dr. Margaret Monachelli.

Dr. Blake is dedicated to practicing the highest quality of medicine, and is thrilled to have Dr. Monachelli and her team at Brookline Animal Hospital.

Dr. Blake is a member of the American Veterinary Medication Association (AVMA) and New Hampshire Veterinary Medical Association (NHVMA). In her spare time, she enjoys the company of her three daughters, her husband, Tim and their dogs Olaf, Mabel, and Layla.

C.J. Churchill, B.S., M.S., D.V.M.

Prior to receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tufts University (MA), Dr. Churchill earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from The University of Massachusetts – Amherst. Following an internship at Darien (CT) Animal Hospital, Dr. Churchill practiced for seven years with Dr. Margaret Monachelli in Amherst, NH, and for 11 years at a progressive multi-doctor veterinary practice in northern Massachusetts.

Dr. Churchill practices general medicine, soft tissue, and orthopedic surgery including T.T.A. (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement) surgery. She is dedicated to her patients and clients, and provides the highest quality care utilizing new applications and technology. Dr. Churchill is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) and the AAFT (American Association of Feline Practitioners). In her spare time, Dr. Churchill enjoys her family and pets, as well as her lifelong love of horses and riding.

Dr. Amy Gates

Dr. Amy Gates grew up on a small beef farm in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont where her love for caring for animals developed at an early age. She earned a BS in Pathiobiology and Molecular Biology and a Masters in Pathiobiology, publishing her research on Mycopolasma vaccines in chickens, from the University of Connecticut. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School in 2012. Following graduation she practiced in emergency medicine and general practice developing a solid foundation in surgery, critical care and internal medicine. Dr. Gates then moved into general practice in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Her interests include surgery, dentistry and challenging medical cases. When not working, Dr Gates enjoys spending time gardening, running and being a mom to her twin boys. She recently moved with her family locally and they share their home with a three legged cat named Captain Ahab and a very excitable Boston Terrier mix,

Christine (Chris) Ritner, Licensed Veterinary Technician
Chris has worked side by side with Dr. Monachelli since 2005, beginning at Amherst Animal Hospital, Animal Hospital at Ferry Road, Animal Hospital of Nashua, and now at Brookline Animal Hospital. Chris is our head client service representative and manages hospital inventory. One of Chris’s strengths is bonding with patients, and staying in close communication with you, our valued client. Chris enjoys spending time with her kids, her cats and dog Sidney.

Judy Blanchette, Veterinary Technician
Judy has over 20 years experience working as a veterinary technician, including eight years working with Dr. Monachelli in Amherst, NH. Her professional interests include surgery, pain management, post operative/recovery nursing care, and client education. Judy enjoys working with the high quality care team at Brookline Animal Hospital. She lives in Milford with her dogs and cats. In her free time, Judy enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Amy Armstrong, Certified Veterinary Technician & Practice Manager
Amy graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Zoology. She has been in the veterinary field since 1999 and has been a Certified Veterinary Technician since 2006. She is a member of the New Hampshire Veterinary Technician Association and the National Veterinary Technician Association. Prior to joining Brookline Animal Hospital, Amy was an animal keeper at Franklin Park Zoo in Boston and co-managed a multi-doctor veterinary practice in New Hampshire. Amy’s special interests in the veterinary field include anesthesia, surgery, hospital management, and client service. Amy is passionate about her work and loves spending her day surrounded by animals. She lives on a family farm with her dogs, a Nigerian Dwarf Goat, horses and many chickens. When Amy is not at the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, horseback riding, gardening, and enjoying time outside.

Kailey Capsalis, Veterinary Technician
Kailey joined Brookline Animal Hospital in January of 2015. She enjoys being an advocate for animals and working closely with their human companions. Her favorite part of surgery is dental cleanings and dental radiographs. Kailey has excelled in her knowledge of surgical monitoring. In her free time, Kailey enjoys spending time with her family, her son and her dog Jake.

Nadine Monachelli, Technician Assistant
Nadine is Dr. Monachelli’s daughter. Working at Brookline Animal Hospital, Nadine developed valuable patient care and client care experience as a Veterinary Technician Assistant. Nadine worked with her mother at Brookline Animal Hospital through high school and college. She has recently graduated from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont with a B.A. in Economics.

Kristina Ruhnau, Technician Assistant

Kristina is currently a student at Fitchburg State University, studying Biology. Working at Brookline Animal Hospital has given Kristina a chance to gain experience and knowledge about animal care. After Kristina graduates college she hopes to involve herself at the animal hospital more and in the future hopefully become a Certified Technician.

Caylin Costello, Technician Assistant
Caylin is a senior at North Middlesex High School taking college courses at Mount Wachusett Community College. She intends to go to college majoring in biology and minoring in sign language.

In her free time, she writes music and volunteers around the community. Caylin’s love for animals and service has motivated her to plan to join the Animal Rescue Corps after college, and she is so grateful for all the opportunities and learning experiences Brookline Animal Hospital has given her.

Kristy Williams, Certified Veterinary Technician
Kristy joined Brookline Animal Hospital in February of 2019. She has worked in several hospitals over the past 20 years and brings a lot of skill and knowledge to our team! Her professional interests include anesthesia, client service, behavior & training. In her spare time, she and her dog, Gronk, train in agility. Her home also includes Digby (the dog) and Mia (the cat). Kristy is working towards her certification in Canine Fitness Training through the University of Tennessee and she is a member of the Massachusetts Veterinary Technician Association and the APDT (The Association of Professional Dog Trainers).

Allison Andrews, Certified Veterinary Technician
Allison joined our team in April of 2019. She graduated from Becker College with a degree in Veterinary Science with a concentration in Clinical and Laboratory Animal Medicine. Her background includes work in both general practice and at an emergency/specialty hospital. Allison is a member of the Massachusetts Veterinary Technician Association. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, and camping with her family and her German Shorthaired Pointers, Denim and Dierks.

Nicole Landry, Technician Assistant
Nicole joined the Brookline Animal Hospital during March of 2013 and worked part-time while attending Hollis Brookline High School. She then went to college at James Madison University in Virginia. In May of 2019, she graduated with a B.S. in Biology, Pre-Veterinary Medicine and is excited to re-join the Brookline Animal Hospital team. She hopes to apply to veterinary school in the future but is currently working toward gaining more experience in various animal fields. She currently works with horses, dairy cattle, and pet sits in her free time. She enjoys spending time with her two dogs, a 1-year-old Aussie named Oshie, and a 13-year-old yellow Labrador named Hunter.
